Still Life
Becoming fluent in drawing is helped by being confident with being able to draw what is in front of you. This here is a still life drawing of a couple of vases and a biscuit tin. The drawing is produced using graphite and charcoal. Instead of drawing an outline for the shapes, I learnt how to get straight in there by building up this image just by shading lighter and darker to show reflection of light and shadows. This was a really successful piece of still life drawing for me, the outcome is bold and is easily recogniseable.
Graphite Sketch of 3D Wooden Model
After creating a 3D wooden, abstract shaped model, I took a view finder and placed it against a section of the wooden model. I carried out a graphite drawing of the chosen section to achieve the image above. My techniques consisted of using the graphite stick in different ways and using a rubber too, to express the texture of the wood and to show the wood markings. Graphite is a good source of material as you can use it in many ways, for example; as normal, like you would use a pen, on its side and you can even scrape it into grains and then smudge it. Using graphite in all these different ways will produce a different outcome.
Photography experiment
In photography class, working on a colour theme project, we created this messy display. The display was put together using objects and vibrant, neon colour paints. I achieved these images by taking shots in different angles. These images are one of my favourite pieces of photography as they stand out and contains powerful detail.
Video, Titled: Within The Darkness
I worked in a group of three to produce this video based on the theme 'Stalker'. We split the work between us and I adapted skills of being a Producer, Actor, Director and Camera Operator. The story line was based on a student doing some research on the computer about ghosts and historical serial killers (in which I created the website myself as a prop). The student's nosey friend goes over behind her back and looks at the computer screen and thinks that the website is nonsense. After the main student leaves the classroom the friend gets up and follows her unknowns to the student. After a while of following, the 'Friend' scares the main student by creeping up behind her. During the time of this, the lights flicker on and off unexpectedly which made the situation more scarier and the 'Friend' starts believing in the ''nonsense website''. As the lights come back on the student and friend get up off the floor having a laugh and a joke. The student takes a silly photo of the 'Friend' and the lights go off again and the 'Friend' becomes missing. The student looks around confused and as she looks at her camera she notices that the serial killer from the website is dragging the 'Friend' away from behind. Student is then standing against some lockers looking at her camera again and as she looks up towards the ceiling she notices a large shadow of a hooded person holding a chainsaw. The student begins to run to escape from the place and after she trips over she gets back up and rushes through the doors. When looking behind her as she pushes through the doors, the serial killer appears behind her waving the chainsaw. And the video ends as a cliffhanger. We made our own backing music for the video using GarageBand, created a cover and included end credits and director's cuts.

Stage set based on the theme of Dracula
During 3D design I learnt how to work to scale 1:25. These are images taken with a digital camera by myself of my stage set, based on the theme Dracula. The project started off confusing and frustrating but I think that this was due to how the mathematics side of this was being explained. Bearing in mind that we only had four weeks to complete this project which also consisted of a list of research, on-going diary of annotation and evaluation, I am really pleased with this finished piece. The overall model contains a lot of realistic detail, I achieved this by using a variety of materials for their texture/effects. For the archways I mixed paint with sawdust to give it a bumpy-rough texture. The bricked pillar is formed by cut up rectangular pieces of sponge and glued to cardboard to relate as ''bricks''. Other materials I have used are polystyrene, cardboard, straight cardboard, paper mache and paint. I have used paint to give it its finishing effects. The use of textures gives the final piece the atmosphere of a dark and doomed crypt as a place where Dracula would go. Once there was a basic rough model the project became more enjoyable.
Triptych of my Past, Present and Future
This was a 'Self-Portrait' project which consisted of combining images and objects about ourselves, our lives and our intentions. For this project we had to produce either a triptych (3 images) or a single image of a digital collage based on this (our past, present and future). As a final piece I composed together a triptych image (shown around this text). The process was done on Photoshop, I got these results by scanning in personal images, documents and objects and then composing them with original images. I changed the levels and contrast of the original pieces and ended up with this successful triptych image.
My Past, Present and Future all in one image
This image here is also related to the 'Self Portrait' project. The image's background is merged together of two of my past holiday images; one of the beach (bottom half of the image) and an image of water fountains (top half of the image). In addition, I have used the techniques of stenciling my date of birth and changing the original colour of the plane and myself by using the tool : ''Selective Colour''. Again this image has been produced on the program Photoshop and I created this image as an extra piece due to having more time left.
Experiment of digital collage
This was one of my first experiments for the 'Self portrait' project. As the main part of the image is in black and white, the splashes of colour makes you more drawn to the image. I feel that the use of colours used in this image work well together and there is not too much going on in it.

Screen Prints on Paper

Pen, Wax and Ink
As a bit of independant work for a sweet project, I have experimented with the materials of biro pen, wax and ink. The white parts show where I have applied the wax, the pink blue and watery black is the ink and the rest of it is pen. I have used techniques such as cross-hatching and shading from darker to lighter.
