Still Life

Becoming fluent in drawing is helped by being confident with being able to draw what is in front of you. This here is a still life drawing of a couple of vases and a biscuit tin. The drawing is produced using graphite and charcoal. Instead of drawing an outline for the shapes, I learnt how to get straight in there by building up this image just by shading lighter and darker to show reflection of light and shadows. This was a really successful piece of still life drawing for me, the outcome is bold and is easily recogniseable.
